Variation in Soil organic carbon within Highland Grasslands of Langtang National Park, Nepal

Grasslands are areas where the vegetation is dominated by grasses and supports indigenous or introduced vegetation and has potential to be grazed (Adams et al. 2009). Grasslands occupy approximately 51% of terrestrial surface of the earth (Prentice et al. 1992) and the important source of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) sequestration. During photosynthesis the vegetation in grassland assimilate atmosphere carbon into its tissues and part of it is added to soil as soil organic carbon (SOC).

Body Weight-Carapace Length And Body Weight-Carapace Width Relationships Of Blue Swimming Crab (Portunus Pelagicus, Linnaeus, 1758) From Phuket Province, Thailand.

The blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) is an important commercial species in Phuket Province, Thailand but it is difficult to handle these spiny crabs to measure their carapace length and width directly. On the other hand it is easy to measure their weight only as much handling is not needed in this case. The aim of this study was to make correlations between body wet weight and carapace length, as well as body wet weight and carapace width of blue swimming crabs from Andaman Sea, Phuket Province.

FEED ACCEPTABILITY, SURVIVAL AND GROWTH PERFORMANCE OF BLUE SWIMMING CRAB (PORTUNUS PELAGICUS. L) FED WITH DIFFERENT CHEAPER DIETS

The aim of this research was to study the feed acceptability, survival and growth performance of blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus, Linnaeus 1758) fed with different diets: fish, jellyfish, worm and worm compost. Another goal was to examine the possibility of using different cheaper diets- worm, compost and jellyfish as supplementary or additional diets for culturing of blue swimming crabs.
