The present investigation aimed to assess the benthic communities with respect to physico-chemical characteristics of water & soil in the Intertidal and fresh water region of Purna, Navsari, Gujarat. The study carried out for the period of 5 months (May-2008 to Sept-2008).The physico-chemical parameters selected for the study were soil moisture, WHC, soil nutrients, organic matter Epiflora was dominated by Diatoms. In Faunal community Polychaete worm, Nematodes, Turbellarian, Molluscans, Mud crab and Mud skipper were found. Polychaete worm shows positive correlation with organic matter. Mud crab was found at all sites from June –September month and Mud skipper was through out the study period at all sites.
