In the present study heavy metals (Zn, Cu, Cd and Pb) were detected in water and soil taken from Tapi. Samples were collected monthly from three different stations for the periods of six months (July 2008 to Oct 2008).The present study is included the period before and after Ganpati visarjan. Heavy metals were determined using AAS according to Standard methods (APHA 2005).Concentration of heavy metals in water and soil was fluctuating with respect to temperature and pH. Heavy metal of the water and soil was found to occur due to the high degree of anthropogenic activities and industrial sewage.
