Abstract:

The purpose of the study was to compare BMI & Sports Competitive Anxiety among girl Kabaddi players. For the present study 144 girl were selected as subject for the study by incidental sampling technique. The age of the subjects ranged from 16 to 20 years. Subjects were participants of 38th Junior National Kabaddi Championship – 2011 of the 16 selected teams from India. To analyze BMI formal Weight / Height  and SCAT an Anxiety Questionnaire Developed by Charles D. Spielberger, Richard L. Gorsuch, and Robert E. Lushene in 1964 was used. It was found that girl kabaddi players had shown significant difference in Weight, Height, BMI and SCAT. Also there was no significant correlation of BMI & SCAT test. Both physical components i.e. Height, Weight, BMI and psychological components i.e. Sports Competitive Anxiety are important components of any type of sport not only in Kabaddi. These are certainly important factors to make the players persistent to perform well in the competition. Therefore, necessary care needs to be taken in physical education programs to enhance both physical and psychological components of players irrespective of their sport
