Abstract:

Seedling is the juvenile stage of a plant after germination. Juvenile stage differ greatly from the adult stage. Therefore, it is difficult to recognize the plants at this stage with help of existing knowledge. The word seedling is used for the stage of plants from the beginning of germination where it is up to a stage where it is 29 to 50 cm high.

The study of seedling have a considerable scientific value. They provide a data about the little known stage in the lifecycle of a plant. This offers characters useful for the identification. The morphology of the seedlings was studied by section cutting of fresh material and stained materials. In Enicostema axillare, germination is an epigeal and macaranga type (Vogel)1 1980.
