Abstract: 

In this study an attempt has been made to determine the factors which customers keep in mind when they buy products from the organized retail stores. Customers prefer the organized retail stores keeping in view its convenience in term of product range, multiple choice, offer and schemes, less than MRP etc. Offer and schemes, less than MRP and more varieties under one roof are combined attributes that customers like about the organized retail stores. Customers expect free home delivery from the stores. Customers more prefer to buy grocery and daily needs items from the stores.  Customers like to pay their bill through cash at the most, followed by the both combine instrument. Socioeconomic factors like type of family, gender, educational qualification, number of family member, marital status etc. are influencing purchase decision of the customers. Therefore, the organized retail stores should prepare accordingly to attract more and more customers. The survey was carried out during the month of November-2012 and results were obtained from 203 respondents about their views on their preferences of organized retail stores, reasons of such preferences and about the trends in purchasing of different products from the organized retail stores.
