Effectiveness of Educational Programme to Alleviate Stress among B.Ed. Trainees

Abstract: 

The modern world, which is said to be a world of achievement, is also a world of stress. Advancement of science and technology has made access to information very easy. Research in science and technology provides new information everyday. This explosion of information and knowledge in the modern age has increased the stress level. Due to such reason, today we see the field of education has become a challenge for everyone. In the field of education, no factor is more important than the psychological factor of personality.  

The purpose of this study is to identify the levels and causes of stress among B.Ed. trainees and to alleviate those stressors by involving them in different activities. 200 teacher trainees from 04 B. Ed. Colleges affiliated to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat were chosen as sample, by using simple random sampling technique. Stress Scale for B.Ed. trainees was administered on them and activities to alleviate stress developed by the researcher, was also conducted. The statistical techniques t-test and ANCOVA were computed to analyze the quantitative data. Result shows that the educational programme to alleviate stress was effective on experimental groups of B.Ed. teacher trainees. Various types of stress alleviation techniques like Stress Tree, Laughter Exercise, Stress Table, Focusing, Deep Breathing and Meditation are useful to reduce stress level. The educational programme to alleviate stress was equally effective on male and female trainees.
