THE SCHOOL EDUCATION FACILITIES IN BORDER AND COASTAL AREA VILLAGES OF KACHCHH DISTRICT OF GUJARAT STATE

Abstract: 

Target of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA), and Right to Education (RTE) Act, has not been achieved till. Now one more Rastriya Uchchh Siksha Abhiyan (RUSA) has targeted ensuring Access, Equality and Quality of education  and ensured Gross Enrolment Ratio (GRE) in higher education  25.2% at the end of  XIIth   Five year Plan and 32 %  at the end of  XIIIth Five year Plan and also  targeted to correct regional imbalance in access to higher education. Without achieving batter school education, it is difficult to attain the target of RUSA. This research is a humble effort of focus on the school education facilities in the boarder and coastal area villages of Kachchh District which leads to think on remaining unachieved targets of school education in many areas of the country. The procedure of research was followed by documentary survey.  Objectives :  To know the availability , enrollment ratio and distance of primary/ high school/ higher secondary school for the villages of boarder and coastal area villages of Kachchh District. Major findings: (1) Out of 10 taluka of Kachchh District, nine taluka with 161 villages    having boarder and / or coastal area (criteria is given in terminology in full paper). (2)  All villages of boarder   and / or coastal area have primary schools in their own village, while. 0.00 % to 40 % villages have high school in their own village and only 4 higher secondary schools are in boarder and / or coastal area villages. (3) Remain villages have high school facility at 6 to 25 km distance place. (4) Enrolment in primary schools was achieved cent   percent   in villages of 6 taluka out of nine taluka up to 2011 Jun.  (5) Remain villages have high school facility at 6 to 25 km distance place.
