VOLTAMMETRIC STUDY OF PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE USING GLASSY CARBON ELECTRODE
Abstract:
The oxidative behaviour of pyridoxine hydrochloride was studied at a glassy carbon electrode in 0.06 M Na2HPO4 – NaH2PO4 buffer using cyclic voltammetry (CV), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and square wave voltammetry (SWV). The oxidation process was shown to be irreversible over the entire pH range studied (5.0 - 9.0). The influence of the operational parameters like scan rate, pulse amplitude, and pulse period for the analytical signal was investigated. The peak current was found to vary linearly with pyridoxine hydrochloride concentration in the range of 2.0 × 10-4 M to 6.0 × 10-3 M. Pyridoxine hydrochloride oxidizes at 0.6 V vs. Ag/AgCl showing a single peak at 0.7 V.
