EFFECTIVENESS OF WORD-CARD AS A SELF-LEARNING TECHNIQUE WITH REFERENCE TO TEACHING OF STATISTICS
The present study was designed to construct the work card material for ‘Permutation Combination’ unit related to the subject Statistics of standard 11th and it’s effectiveness on the achievement in context’s of student’s gender.
In the present study, ‘two group, random sampling, post-test design was employed. Sample consisted of thirty two girls and thirty boys, studying in 11th standard were selected as sample. Study was divided into two experiment. One was carried on girls and the other was carried out on boys. For each experiment two group were formed. The first group which was designated as experimental groups was taught by work card method and the second group which designated as control group was taught by conventional method. After the experiment, students were given teacher’s made test to measure the achievement. t-test is used for the statistical analysis of data obtained.
The results of the study revealed that the work card material was more effective than conventional method in context of girl’s achievement. It also found that the work card material was more effective than conventional method in context of boy’s achievement. It can be concluded that there was no significant effect of student’s gender on the relationship of teaching methods and achievement.
